Is it just me, or did summer flash by faster than the speed of light this year?

I don't think it was just me because when I turned on the radio I heard the DJ saying the exact same thing.  When I talked to friends and family they were complaining and couldn't believe the kids were going back to school already.  Back to school!  The kids are dreading it and so am I.  Most Moms welcome it. Not me.  It represents the lazy day of summers are gone and a new/additional schedule to start.

Summer is always too short and never long enough here, but this year especially seemed even shorter. Spring took forever to get here and when it did, it was wet and cold. When the warm weather finally got here, we were already in July giving us barely 2 months of the heat. By the last week of August, we could feel the hint of fall coming our way. 

I know some people are saying but fall is so pretty... I love fall with all the beautiful colours and we get to dress in warm sweaters and boots. Yes, the colours are beautiful, but that is where it ends for me.  I don't like what back to school and the fall colours represent... the dead of winter shortly to follow.  When a simple trip to the store entails 5 minutes of dressing in boots, hat, coat, mitts.  Then cleaning the snow off and warming up the car before you can even think of driving.  Dreary days when you don't see the sun for days.  You know how it affects some people when they don't see the sun?  They get grumpy.  I am one of  those people.  When the weather is like that I just want to hibernate.  I swear I should have been born on a tropical island.

I sometimes get asked "what is your favourite season?  My immediate answer is SUMMER!  The hotter the better!

Even though it was short it was a busy, hot, fun summer and when I am in the thick of dreary, wet cold winter, I will be thinking of those days and dreaming of next year's hot one!

It's a glorious day outside.  Sadly not too many of them left.  I had a busy morning doing some running around, but I hope to get out shortly to enjoy the warm summer sun.  Happy Friday everyone!

We were able to get away for a few days to the cottage. It was good to just relax and enjoy and not think of the everyday stuff.

Fun Times

It's been a whirlwind around here the last few days few weeks. So busy with so many things. It's been hard to keep everything moving smoothly and on time. Trying to squeeze everything in has been a real challenge for me, but I am up for it and things seem to be getting done. It's not all getting done when I want, but they are getting done and they are getting striked off my list... and I love striking things off my list and being busy.

We went and had some fun the other day at the Children's Museum.
The peg board was a lot of fun. We all spent a lot of time there imprinting ourselves. I think the adults had the most fun imprinting our bodies. hehe

...and that's not even half the fun we had there. We painted, played at the water table. Dressed up in costumes, read some interesting facts... the fun goes on and on. Hope you are having a fun and busy summer!

Count Down

We are down to the wire.... there is only one more day of school and then freedom, as I know it, will be over! lol

Don't get me wrong... I am ready for the break! A little sleeping in, no more lunches to make first thing in the morning. My own schedule and not someone elses. Sewing, swimming, having fun in the lazy days of summer.... it's all good and I am ready to enjoy! Hope you do too!

Just In Time for Summer

I made these cuties up, along with a few more a couple months ago and have wanted to list them in my Etsy shop, however, things don't always go as planned and I have only finally gotten some time in the last couple days to get them in there. I hope to get a few more listed later this week.
They are made out of undershirts or more popularly known as "onesies. They are so cute and easy to wear in the heat of summer. I love making them... I just wish I had someone small enough wear them. Mine are all too big.
