It's a Sickness

I tell ya... it really is... shopping that is. I had a lot of running around to do last week. Installing drapery for a client. Picking up deposits from new clients. I got the shopping bug too... I wanted to do some clothes shopping because I needed some new tops and new shoes for summer. The Husband needed new clothes too. Lately, he has been ruining his at work, either getting guck/stains on them or tearing them at job sites. So while I was out and about I decided I would run into Winners (which is the equivalent of TJ Maxx in the US) -love this store. Boy, did I score. I got 2 pair of sandals. I was only really trying to find a comfortable black slip on pair, which I did, that would go with everything, but then I found these and I just couldn't pass them up.

I always find it hard to find shoes, so when I do and they are super comfortable I scoop them up. Got a pair of pants and 2 shirts for the Husband. A Liz Claiborne black straight skirt, that was originally $99.00 for $22.00. Wasn't really looking for it, but it fit so good and who could pass up that deal and I also got, which I was really looking for... 3 tops. My old black ones have had it so these new black shoes will be great for everyday wearing with... skirts, shorts, capris, you name it.

So after I finished there, the fabric store was right next door so I decided to pop in since I hadn't been there for awhile, and see what was new. I tell ya, the stars were aligned that day or something because they were having an inventory clearance and I found the most gorgeous fabric. Remember when I found this? Well, I scored again and found Michael Miller and Jersey Girl's Chelsea Morning this time. They are gorgeous and feel so wonderful. I can't wait to get into them. The polka dot on the end is a Robert Kaufman.
Sweetpea and Sunshine had a recital on Friday. They both play the piano. They did great and we are so proud of them. Sunshine received an award that was presented to her by her teacher for outstanding work, which was a great surprise since we didn't even know about it til that night.
Getting off the stage pronto!
The weather has finally warmed up around here. Finally! Thursday I had my car heater on to take away the chill and on Friday I had the A/C blasting because it was 104 F with the humidity. Crazy, eh?!

Sunday was our 17th wedding anniversary, but 22 years together. Man, time sure does fly when you are in love! We spent the afternoon at my parents
with family, swimming in the pool, had a great bbq and my mom opened up the bubbly to celebrate the occasion. It was a great day!

Oh! I also stocked up on more ribbon.....

I told you it is a sickness! lol

This week promises to be a busy week too. Following up on things from last week. Ordering fabric, making deliveries, picking things up. My in-laws 50th anniversary is next week, so I am setting things up for that along with Father's Day this Sunday....

Have a great week!

Good Times

Today was a great day! The kids had a day off school. Yes, you heard right. Most moms would grown, but I didn't. It was a busy day but a good day and that's always great in my books. It started off early and going to the grocery store. I was suppose to meet a client after that to go over some drapery treatments, but she called early at the last minute and had to cancel because she was not feeling well. She felt bad, but I told her not to worry, it wasn't a problem we can reschedule. It actually worked out better for me. I had promised Sunshine that the next day that she had off we would spend it together and that I would take her shopping. She got gift cards for her birthday last month and she wanted to use them. So, although we were still going to do that today it was suppose to be after my meeting. Now, this way, we had more time together. The three of us spent 3 1/2 hours together... just me and my girls. They tried on clothes and loved modeling them for me. We had great fun picking things out. However, it is always harder to find something when you are actually looking for something and have money in hand. Don't you think? I always seem to find things for me when I am looking for someone else. Anyway, she found a few things that she liked and she was thrilled. I treated them to lunch and it was just a great afternoon. It always makes me feel good when I spend good time with my girls and know that they are having fun. I know they really enjoy it too and that's the best part of being a mom!

Got Some New Bling

...at my ironing board.

I picked up this iron last weekend ~ Shark - Intelligent Electronic Iron. It was on sale for 50% off. I was in the market for a new iron and I remembered when Autum at Creative Little Daisy was trying to get input on them that someone said the "Shark" was a good iron.

The jury is not completely in on how great it is, yet. I have only used it a few times and have tried it on some denim shirts and a denim purse I recently made for a client, and it seems to work really well. The steam booster is a really nice feature since I didn't have it on my other iron and it helps a lot to get those stubborn creases out that my other iron took forever to do and sometimes didn't with a whole lot of pressing down hard which the Shark does not require. I was a little skeptical at the store when I turned it over and saw the shiny silver plate. I am use to the teflon plate that my other iron had, but since using it, I don't mind it and it seems to glide just as well.

The real test will be when I iron Hubby's linen shirt. It was a nightmare with the old iron so we will see how this one performs.

P.S. What do you think of the new Logo at the top? I also made a new Logo for my Etsy shop. Out of the two, which do you like more and why. I would love to get some opinions on them. Thanks!

Update regarding the iron: I hate it! Well, not hate. I don't like using that word. It is such a strong word and I always tell my kids not to use it for that reason... So, I really, really dislike it and I plan on taking it back to the store that I got it from. Why do I dislike it so much you ask? It has already stopped steaming on its own unless I press the steam burst button. When I do hit the steam burst button it lets out this annoying high pitched whistle and remember I told you it had a nice shiny silver plate on the bottom. Don't ever get one with that. It gets so gunky, so quickly, it won't even slide along the clothes so that you can iron them. You constantly have to be cleaning the bottom.... trust me stick to teflon.
