Happy Thanksgiving!
It's Thanksgiving this weekend. I'm having a house full again to celebrate that and Sunshine's 10th birthday. How did ten years pass? I have no idea, but it did and I cherish every one of those days with you. You are a sweet, thoughtful and funny little girl that makes me smile everyday.I've been busy running around today doing errands... grocery stores, etc. I really need to be in the kitchen preparing some food for Sunday, but I can't seem to get into the mood to do any of that. It's a warm sunny day and I would rather be doing anything other than that right now. It's suppose to be in the 70's on Sunday.... if it is as nice as that I think we will be eating turkey outside. How great would that be?!

A Birthday Gift and New Bag
A new pair of pants made for a birthday gift. My nephew is turning 4 today! They are black denim with multi-colour stripe cuffs and back pocket. I can't wait to see them on him. I was going to get him a shirt and applique something on it, but found a long sleeve shirt with a dinosaur on it with the right colours at the Gap and got it instead.
When he starts to grow taller all he as to do is unfold the cuff. You will still be able to see a bit of the stripe because when I made them so that part of the stripe was in the hem.
Here's a new bag I made up awhile ago, but forgot to take a picture and post it. It's a one of a kind and I love the fabric combination of botanicals and stripes. The fabric is absolutely gorgeous. I was even mulling over the idea of keeping it for myself, but decided not to and let someone else enjoy it. It will be up for grabs here.
It's a beautiful cotton/canvas fabric that is screen printed on the most wonderful blue/grey background. The brown grosgrain ribbon completes the bag and gives it the finishing touch.
I'm so glad it's Friday! Remember I told you things have been changing around here. Well, I have been working part-time in the drapery workroom that I deal with for the drapery/decorating side of my business for the last four weeks. I am loving it and learning so much! It's two days a week and that is plenty - It allows me to continue to run my own business and still be at home.
I was in their office in August and I got to talking with the owner, well one thing led to another and she offered me a job. I always loved going there seeing all the fabrics, people working at the machines and the general creativity going on there and thought it would be a great place to be since I love sewing so much. I was so excited - the opportunities and doors it will open was just too good to pass up. Not only will I be hands on in the workroom, I will also be taking the calls they usually have to turn away that they get from the public, since they only deal with trade. On top of that, I am able to bring in my work and have it on display in their lobby where designers and others come in and will see it. I see it as a win win situation for both of us.
I've had to get use to the two days I am working somewhere else. I need lots of organization to keep things running smoothly. I am constantly tired more than ever, but it's a good tired.

Today is my birthday...nah nah nah nah nah nah nah na NA!Do you remember when David (Bruce Willis) sang that song to Maddie (Cybill Shepherd) on Moonlighting? For some reason it always stuck in my head. I guess because it was a new take on an old song... that always out of tune, slow paced... haaapppy birrrrthdayyyy to you....
I can't believe another year has gone by. Seriously, where do they go?! I remember when I was just entering my 30's and to be honest I didn't like it. It seemed like I was getting old fast, faster than my mind could comprehend, for I still felt like a young kid. Now, at the blink of an eye, I find myself at the end of my 30's and soon to begin a whole new group of numbers and it freaks me out! Why does it? I don't know. It doesn't bother other people. I try not to let it bother me, it's just another year, right?! It's all part of living and growing and really, you are only as old as you feel. Granted, having said that, somedays I feel like I am 65 with all the aches and pains I sometimes have, but then I hang out with my kids and they keep me feeling young with their carefree and fun attitude.
Most important, it's living everyday to it's fullest and I try and do that. After all, you are not defined by a number you are defined by the person you are and have become.
So birthdays should be celebrated not frowned upon, so on this special occasion I am going to celebrate with a give away, because I know how everyone likes a good giveaway and maybe this will get some of you out of the

Last of the....
December gifts is this little zippered pouch. It's for a young girl who also had a birthday in December. However, she hasn't gotten it yet because she doesn't actually have her party til January or February. With all the hoopla over Christmas her mom feels that it is better to celebrate her birthday with her friends after the busy season is over.
It's a fun little bag that I've had in the memory bank for awhile now and of course as I have said before the perfect opportunity to try it out.
It's black denim with accents and lining in red gingham. 
It has a large zippered compartment with a pocket in the front and a two pockets in the back.
The strap is long enough to cross over your shoulder or simply keep it on one shoulder. I think it's a great bag for when you are going out and only need a few things, however, it is large enough to carry quite a bit, sling it over your shoulder and off you go. All in all I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. However, there are a few things that I would tweak if I was to make it again.
So, those are all the 2007 gifts... now onto 2008. I have already been busy making gifts and I will hopefully be able to show you them soon. I need to get them done and get back to work. This being off during the holidays has really slowed me down, however, it doesn't help when you have a sick little one at home and you are busy being Nurse Nightingale.
As for the accounting...ya right... still working on that, at a very slow pace. I am waiting for my accountant, no not the one that told me all the wrong information, my other one to answer a question. So you can't say I am procrastinating if I am actually waiting for some information... can you?

A Shirring I Have Done, A Shirring I Have Done...
I have been doing shirring now for probably two or three months. It is so "hot" right now for summer. It is in all the stores, everybody is wearing them, they are in magazines and how to books, and they have been all over the crafty blog world for some time now. Well, like I said "I have been making them for awhile" I just haven't had time to take pictures and posted them.
It is a special little girls birthday this week and I know she would love one, so I made another one up today.
They are so easy and fun to make. The possibilities and creativity is absolutely endless. Just grab some elastic thread and some fabric and off you go. Sizing has been a lot of trial and error, but I think I got it now. So far, I made a terry swimsuit cover-up dress for Sunshine. The shirring makes the terry extra soft and cozy. I have also made a shirt size for Sweetpea and Sunshine. They like to wear it with jeans, shorts, skirt, capris. I will try and get pictures of them to show. This one above is sized as a dress. I can't wait to give it to her.

Happy Birthday to...
Me!It was 30-some years ago today that I became the apple of my parents eye.
Where has the time gone? I still remember, like it was yesterday, being outside with my friends on hot summer days playing hide'n seek and having to come in only when the street lights came on.
I can't complain... they years have been good. Oh, there have been some ups and down, but I am so lucky to have the life I do and I try everyday not to take it for granted.
I am spending the day with my Mom. She is taking me out for lunch and then shopping! So much fun. I am looking forward to it. Tomorrow my brother and his wife are taking me and hubby out for dinner. Then on Saturday we have a wedding to attend. So lucky... no cooking for 3 days in a row because today I am not cooking... it's my birthday ya know!
