I made a new purse and my first try at a patchwork apron:
I have had the idea of this purse in my head for awhile now, and I finally got around to making it. The bottom half is black denim and the top half is white denim. The centre is 3 types of coordinating ribbon. I embroidered little mauve circles along the handles and trimmed them with a turquoise straight stitch to repeat the pattern from the ribbon. I made the beaded rings for the handles. I think it adds so much more to the purse and really finishes it off. The lining is turquoise with one large slip pocket and a hard base, so it will stand upright and a magnetic snap to keep it closed. It was a lot of fun to do and you can be sure to see alot more of these to come !
OK, this blogger is starting to annoy me. I have tried 5 times to upload the picture of the patchwork apron and it doesn't work...rrrrr
This apron was fun to do and at the same time a little challenging. I went by pictures I saw on some crafty peoples site. For the patchwork I sandwiched felt inbetween the lining and patchwork. Sewed up the bottom and flipped it around to the front, leaving the sides loose. Then I folded the sides over to the back and stitched them up. I am not crazy about doing it this way because it becomes really bulky and hard to work with not to mention extremely difficult to get it into the sewing machine. Anyone with any better ideas or have done it differently, I would love to know. (and maybe sometime in the future, if blogger co-operatives, you will see it, but for now visualize)
