Behind the Scenes

Running your own business sometimes means you have to wear many hats, juggle many balls  ...you get the idea.

One of the hats I was recently wearing was the photography hat.  I am in no way a professional photographer; however, I have always loved photography and the stories and thoughts good photos provoke.  Awhile ago, I invested in a really good camera, read as much about photography on the web, took a night course to get a bit more in site on the subject AND practice as much as I can.  For Christmas, I was lucky enough to get the speedflash I have been hinting and wanting for awhile - oh how I love it and what a difference it can make. But that's a whole other topic and blog post.

I thought I would share some of the photos I took of the shoot I did recently with a model for my new Couverture aprons I did recently.  Here's just a few of the hundred or so I did.

Being silly and channeling Madonna's Vogue

I like the movement in this one.

Let me tell you, being a photographer is no easy job.   Especially, when you don't have a crew of people, like the professionals, having stylists, lighting and general assistants helping you prep the work.  Then there is the model. That's hard work and not as glamorous as you would think.  We did have fun, though with a lot of laughs.

Remember I gave you a sneak peak a few days ago?  Well, I am finally done and happy to show you what I have been working on.  La Patissiere - a new collection of Couverture aprons,  that I am very excited about.

The website has been updated and uploaded and there is also a sale til March 4th on anything you purchase online at the website.  Go on over and check out the sale information here and see more of the Couvertures and details about them here.

Come back and tell me what you think.

There's a Giveaway

I had to step away from my sewing machine this afternoon. Otherwise, it was going to get ugly. I won't even go there.

So when I stepped away, I walked on over to the computer and checked out some blogs. The first one I went to was the
Apronista. I am so glad that I did. There's another giveaway and it is a Sommer Designs Hostess Apron. Carrie makes the some great aprons with the most wonderful fabrics. It's going to be hard to pick just one.

National Apron Day

Guess what I just found out? It's National Apron Day on Monday, May 14th. I couldn't believe it when I read it.

I knew aprons were making a huge comeback, but I never thought there would be a "National" day set aside for it. How great is that?!

There is even a flickr group with some wonderful apron designs and the designers out there that I have seen in cyberspace are absolutely fantastic. Even if you are not an apron wearing person, I can tell you they make you want to become one!

I started off making aprons a couple of years ago just for the Christmas season, but soon found out that people were loving them so much I wanted to offer them, not just for Christmas, but for any time of year. I love making them and the creativity behind them. They can be as simple or elaborte as your mind can come up with. It looks like I got on the band wagon just in time too because aprons are making a huge comeback in the last year or so and I have clients that just love them. These Ho
stess Aprons are the first of many. I also plan on offering a chef apron and possibly children's aprons and aprons geared towards men. Like I said before though, these things take time and I wish I could get these designs out of my head and into fabric as fast as I think of them. Well, I guess you will just have to wait and see what I come up with.

So don't wait another minute. Have mom ready for National Apron Day by getting her a wonderful apron for Mother's Day... it's just around the corner!

** don't you just love that first pic... gave me a good laugh
