It Comes In Three's

In this case, I hope it's not true!

I've been having a run of bad luck lately. It started two weeks ago while I was sewing. My machine went out of control, broke a needle and it flew into my eye. Sounds worse than it was... I know you are imaging this but it wasn't that bad. Luckily it was only a small particle that flew into my eye and I was able to get it out; however, for the rest of the day my eye still felt like there was something in it and it was quite red and swollen. The next morning, it was a bit better but still swollen and red and as the morning went on was feeling like it was yesterday. I was beginning to think maybe something was still stuck in it. So I thought, why am I worrying? Just go see about it. So I did. I called my eye doctor and explained what happened. They said to come in right away even though they were fully booked. After having the doctor look at it, he sai
d it was fine. That there was nothing in it, but that there was some abrasion and that was causing the redness and irritation. I was so thankful. He gave me some gel drops to keep it moist, told me it should feel better in a day or so and sent me on my way. Great! I felt much better knowing that there was nothing in it and would heal with no problems.

Last week I was washing up some dishes after dinner and while maneuvering a pot around in the sink, hit a glass that was too close to the edge. It tipped over and as I was trying to save it hit the counter broke and sliced the inside of my palm. Blood was gushing the cut was deep. I ran it under cold water and tried to put some pressure on it stop the bleeding, but had to sit down because I was starti
ng to feel nauseous. It started to swell up and the pain was setting in. Everything happened so fast that I was starting to worry if there was still a broken piece of glass still in it. I was also concerned if I had done any nerve damage or cut a tendon. There are so many in the hand and I was starting to feel pain in my fingers and they were not moving as easily.

I decided I need to go to the ER to get it checked out. I ended up getting 3 stitches and a tetanus shot. Once home, the freezing started to wear off and the pain was excruciating. I didn't th
ink I was going to fall asleep I was in sooooo much pain. It felt better the next morning. I took some Tylenol, had to keep my upright and for 2 days I couldn't open my hand.

I got the stitches out this morning. It has healed really well, however, I still have to be careful how I grab things. It is still quite tender and will be for awhile. It feels like there is a sma
ll pea underneath the skin where the scare is. I guess it is scare tissue that is still healing. I was told it will take awhile for it feel better. I'm just glad there is no permanent damage.

Here's hoping, in your case, that bad luck comes in twos!
