I am so exhausted! I have been doing shows back to back, running around picking up drapery and hardware orders, sewing, taking photos and updating etsy. So today, I am just going to "veg" a little and relax. Last night was my last show before Christmas. I didn't book myself into as many as I did last year because I have been busy with drapery clients and custom orders. I am so glad I didn't, too, because I don't think I would have lasted if I had anymore shows to do. They are so tiring. From packing to unpacking, to standing on a cement floor for hours. It takes a lot out of you. The shows I did this year have been disappointing. I did a 2-day one on the weekend, which is usually a really good one. I have done it 3 years in a row and this year was lousy. There were no people. I don't think the person that organizes it really put all her effort into it as she had done previously. She mentioned to me earlier that she had a paying job now and won't be doing it next year, so I think that had something to do with it.
I made a mental note to self "I am done with the mickey-mouse craft shows and only intend to book myself into big, well advertised Art Shows." I found one that I intend to apply for next year. It is a little further than I usually go, but it is juried and I have heard that it is a really good one with people waiting at the door prepared to shop.
I finally remembered/decided to bring my camera to my last show. I always hesitated because it is so big and bulky. It's not one that you can pop in your pocket. I wanted to have some pictures of the events I was at and I knew this would be a nice place to have set up.
I have been working on updating my Etsy Shop and getting some new photos. I must say I am really pleased with these photos (I love my camera!). I recently got a tri-pod and I recommend to anyone taking stills to get themselves one. It really makes a difference when you are taking product shots.
I will be adding more to the Shop in the next coming days, so you early birds can get your Christmas shopping started. So stay tuned.
Now that I have the shows out of the way, other than updating etsy and completing client's orders, I have a few birthday and Christmas gifts I want to get made. I also have to get back to my other (for lack of a better word) "jobs" that have been neglected lately... namely my family and house.
