Embroidery
I have been wanting to do this for so long. I finally got the chance to last night and I am loving it.I used a back stitch for the pedal part. I have done this kind of sewing with regular thread but never embroidery thread and then I did a chain stitch around the centre part. That was new to me and so much fun. I can tell already that this can get addictive and the best part of it is I can do it anywhere. I was sitting outside enjoying the summer weather working on this flower, which is a nice change since my studio is in the basement with not much natural light. It was such a treat. The only thing I am not sure of is the length of thread to use. I ended up using the whole length the package gave me and it was so long and kept getting tangled. Any tips from you experienced embroiderers?Like I said I have wanted to try this for awhile but after I stumbled upon Suzie Can Stitch's blog, I really wanted to try. Her work is amazing! I was really taken with one of her projects where she got her daughter to draw a picture and then she embroidered it. It turned out fantastic and what a wonderful keepsake.
I can't wait to try something else.

I have a few drawings of my children I want to embroider. I think it's a great way to preserve their art.
Another great thing about embroidery (aside from being totally portable) is that it is a very inexpensive craft, too.
I'm not sure how long your thread was, but was it too long? Have you tried beeswax for thread to prevent it from tangling? (I bought some, but haven't used it yet.)
